National Fibre Strategy for Canadian AlpacaThe George Morris Centre has been engaged to develop a national strategy for Canada's alpaca fibre industry. The project will also include an assessment of various governance and business models currently operated by other alpaca fibre businesses around the world, including the Canadian Camelid Fibre Cooperative. To ensure alpaca producers and breeders have an opportunity to contribute to this analysis, upon which the final strategy will be built, the George Morris Centre is facilitating focus groups at industry events across the country. Insights from the focus groups will enable researchers to gauge producers? and breeders? satisfaction with, and attitudes toward, the Canadian Camelid Fibre Cooperative, current industry governance structures, and challenges and opportunities they foresee facing the Canadian alpaca sector. Questions will also include the extent to which alpaca producers feel committed to working together as a cohesive group. Further comments from producers, breeders and a wider array of industry stakeholders will be captured through an on-line survey, which will be conducted in late April 2008. Have your say by attending the focus group being held on Friday April 11th @ 6pm For further information on the focus groups, please contact Pat Dares pat@georgemorris.org
