Preferable dress code is dark pants and white/light shirt. NO farm identification is to be displayed.

Location

As you enter Brandon you need to turn south on 18th street (also noted as Hwy 10S). This is the intersection with the Husky, Shell and Esso/Tim Hortons. Travel south through Brandon for quite a number of blocks. You have the option of turning left on Park Ave. to 13th street then turn right and then enter the Keystone grounds from the East side OR travel on 18th street until Richmond Ave., turn left and continue into and through the Keystone grounds.

All exhibitors should proceed to the far North East End of the Keystone complex. You will see an area between the older buildings (Kinsmen arena) and the new Ag Centre of Excellence. This is the unloading area. The large overhead door will be open (weather permitting) whereby you can unload your animals and equipment into the Canada room which is across the hall from this entrance.

There will be a Manitoba Alpaca Club booth at the entrance to the Canada Room where stall and show information will be made available. Sand will be in the pens, although most likely not spread so it is wise to bring a shovel or rake.

The barn boss is Rick Gogush. If you have any trouble, his cell no. is (204) 781-0384.

National Fibre Strategy for Canadian Alpaca

The George Morris Centre has been engaged to develop a national strategy for Canada's alpaca fibre industry. The project will also include an assessment of various governance and business models currently operated by other alpaca fibre businesses around the world, including the Canadian Camelid Fibre Cooperative.

To ensure alpaca producers and breeders have an opportunity to contribute to this analysis, upon which the final strategy will be built, the George Morris Centre is facilitating focus groups at industry events across the country.

Insights from the focus groups will enable researchers to gauge producers? and breeders? satisfaction with, and attitudes toward, the Canadian Camelid Fibre Cooperative, current industry governance structures, and challenges and opportunities they foresee facing the Canadian alpaca sector. Questions will also include the extent to which alpaca producers feel committed to working together as a cohesive group. Further comments from producers, breeders and a wider array of industry stakeholders will be captured through an on-line survey, which will be conducted in late April 2008.

Have your say by attending the focus group being held on Friday April 11th @ 6pm

For further information on the focus groups, please contact Pat Dares pat@georgemorris.org
